About Us

The philosophy of Holy Cross School is rooted in the belief that Catholic education is an extension of the teaching mission of the church. It is a process which involves the total Christian community, dedicated to creating a Christian educational community where human culture and knowledge are enlivened by the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.

The spiritual development of the student proceeds from an understanding that a full and complete spiritual life requires instruction which is authentic in doctrine, contemporary in presentation and is characterized by the celebration of the Liturgy and by other prayer experiences to reflect on Gospel values.

Through the establishment of a living, conscious and active faith community, particularly through the witness of the teachers and administrators, the students learn to recognize the Christ who dwells within each of us and to reach out in loving service to the Christ who dwells in others. The students develop deep concern for the less fortunate through a commitment to their parish and their Church.

The teaching and reinforcing of basic skills, built upon a foundation of discipline and tradition, strengthens each child in the creative learning process. Since knowledge that will become necessary in a rapidly changing society cannot be adequately predicted, the educational process is expanded by developing a desire to learn, leading to a motivation for self-learning and promoting a quality education for all.

Social development proceeds from a consciousness of the uniqueness and dignity of the student as created in God's image and redeemed in Christ. Through the influence of the teachers, students come to appreciate their uniqueness and the importance of respect and justice in establishing a community based upon Gospel message.

Physical development addresses the individual health and fitness needs of children while providing them an opportunity to develop a sense of fair play, cooperation and self-esteem.

In developing the concept of self-worth, the students are encouraged to take pride in themselves and in their accomplishments, and to recognize their talents and the responsibility to develop these talents.

Holy Cross School is one guided and directed by people of faith who recognize their mission to serve and strengthen the Church through the religious formation of their students. Together they create an atmosphere of faith as lived in a community of believers.
